Since the 2018-19 season, and including this weekend's match, Sunday will mark the eighth encounter of the October El Clasico following the UEFA Champions League group stage. When it comes to the gap between the UEFA and league fixtures, Real Madrid has enjoyed a total of 26 days of rest, compared to Barcelona's 23 days. This figure does not yet account for the 2019-20 season's El Clasico, which had to be postponed due to the political turmoil in Catalonia over the "process of independence," sparking concerns about safety. The Catalan giants were scheduled to face off against Slavia Prague at 21:00 on a Wednesday evening, followed by a home match against Real Madrid at 13:00 on Saturday afternoon at the Nou Camp. In contrast, Los Blancos were set to play away against Galatasaray in Istanbul at 21:00 on a Tuesday evening.
